Catalina Island

Santa Catalina Island
Avalon CA, 90704

Catalina Island is a summer escapade only an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Just 26 miles off the coast, you can reach this paradise by ship, yacht, or plane. My friend Renee and I rode the Catalina Flyer departing from Newport Beach. We were lucky to get our hands on a round-trip deal from Groupon for only $39! The deal is already sold out, but ride is free on your birthday if you register at Catalina Express. Definitely keep an eye for deals!

Both of us had never been there so we sat on the upper deck to get the full view. It was quite chilly, but it was definitely worth it! We saw pods of dolphins, some were even swimming next to our boat! We also saw some whales! It was such a treat.

I was in awe of how serene the island looked from afar! It is truly a California gem. It felt like I was in Santorini, Greece!

Thank goodness I wore a maxi dress! I was able to walk around the windy deck without  flashing anyone.

There’s a plethora of activities that the island offers: kayaking, scuba diving, parasailing, and ziplining to name a few. Renee and I walked around, but you can also rent golf carts or bikes.

Fun Fact: Catalina is a vanilla-scented paradise! The funnel cake stand definitely knows how to lure customers! (or maybe we were just hungry lol)

I wouldn’t mind sleeping here. Extreme backpacking… without a backpack.

We snorkeled at Lover’s Cove, but we accidently dropped the GoPro (I know, how unfortunate). It was my first time snorkeling and will definitely do it again, with a mermaid tail next time lol.

For lunch, we went to Lobster Trap. We devoured some oysters and the infamous lobster roll!

We spent the the rest of our stay lounging on the beach, as if we weren’t tan enough. The people were so hospitable, the view was spectacular, and the food was scrumptious! Catalina is definitely on my list again!

So long, dear Catalina. Can’t wait to experience more of your awesomeness!
